Playing Better Golf, Some Serious Talk

Are you aware of how the big brand golf equipment companies are constantly pounding you and the whole golf world with their marketing hype . They want you to believe that their technology is the greatest , and if you buy their golf clubs you will lower your scores . They don’t want you to buy golf clubs from custom club makers and they don’t want you you go to a sports coach/psychologist. Because, by doing that , you will actually improve your game and you won’t need their products .

Let’s assume you purchased clubs custom made for you and you started playing better, lowering your scores and lowering your handicap . Would you ever consider buying stock big brand clubs again ? Surely you have several friends that paid big money for name brand clubs but did not improve their game, and continue to play as they always did ? The answer to your game is not to throw more money at it, but to go to a good club maker and have them perform an accurate club fitting for you. You’ll then realize that the high priced brand name clubs are actually inferior to well fit clubs.

Also , if you find a good coach/psychologist you will realize that you can play good golf without the need for the newest hyped clubs, balls or other equipment. They can set you on a path to playing good golf with any equipment. Lee Trevino once said, “It ain’t the arrows, it’s the Indians”. That’s his typical funny way to say it, but the truth.

There is a strong case to be made for doing just two basic things . Find a good custom club maker and book time with a good sports psychologist. If you want to work on swing technique, add a swing coach. But, just having custom fit clubs and the help of the psychologist will improve your game immensely . You don’t need the hyped brand name equipment. If the gimmicks that the big brands promote actually worked, wouldn’t every golfer who bought their clubs have a low handicap?

The most outstanding “gimmick” that I have ever seen was the “vibration dampener” that some of big brands marketed in a big way . It was a piece of soft rubbery plastic material that was bonded onto the back of the club head. It weighed 1/1000 of the total club weight and “dampened all the vibrations in the club”. Huh? What am I missing there? The point is that the average golfer believed it and many bought those clubs for that feature. I’ll guess that most of them got the same results as they did with their previous clubs.

Do the two main things, see a good sports psychologist and get a custom fitting. It won’t make any difference if the clubs are clone golf clubs or discount golf clubs, just be sure they’re made to the specifications learned in your custom fitting session. If you improve your mental game and have correctly fit equipment, you will improve your scores. The pros don’t use off the shelf standard clubs and they all have help with the mental game. You should do the same, too.

An Understanding Of Clone Golf Clubs

A misconception about clone golf clubs is that they are cheap copies of big names like Callaway and Titleist , and not manufactured as well as the big brands. Most of the clone discount golf clubs play as well as any club on the market..

Clone golf club companies do their business the same way as the big names . They have involvement in research and design , and use the same materials and methods as the brand names. Much care is taken adhere to accurate specifications .

Most manufacturers of clone golf clubs submit their clubs to the USGA and R & A for rules conformance checks . This process is expensive but proves to the golfing world that the clone clubs are legal and legitimate. Creating conforming clubs requires attention to detail and a good manufacturing methods.

Most clone producers provide prototypes to the manufacturer of the brand they are cloning for their approval. This insures that there is no infringement on any patent rights or copyrights .

Clone golf clubs from respected manufacturers will cost about 1/3 of the price for the name brands. They will be manufactured from the same materials as the big OEM’s and have equivalent shafts. Most clones can be purchased as custom fitted clubs with many choices of shafts, shaft flex, shaft length, and grips. What you get is a set of high quality, rules conforming, custom built clubs that will play the same as a set of expensive brand name clubs. What you’re not paying for is the huge endorsement fees that the name brands pay to professionals, or the mammoth advertising programs.

So, browse the Internet for the clone manufacturers and compare their offerings. Most will advertise what each model is a cloned from. If you like a particular name brand club but don’t want to pay the big bucks, you’ll find many high quality clubs from which to choose.

Most golfers have used the driving range from time to time but in most cases, not enough. If you want to make some serious improvements to your golf game then the driving range is a great place to start.

You might be surprised at what the driving range can do for you. They have a variety of functions that can help your golfing. We’ll take a look at at some of these things now.

The Driving Range As A Practice Ground

The most common use of a driving range is as a spot to try out new golf equipment, new kinds of shots or a different grip. The range is the perfect place to try out something new as it allows a golfer to experiment away from the main course. Attempting something new out, in an area that’s associated with practice, tends to remove some of the burden from the experience.

For those who try something fresh while on the links, it is simple to lose faith in whatever you’re trying out, but the driving range is ideal for this. It gives you a consistent space to work in, so you can see the difference, in your shot or club selection straight away. Each ball you hit is a clear indicator of your progress.

You can hit as many balls as time will permit, with out holding up the next group. This lets you build up confidence in your method, away from the glare of ready golfers. Something which you need to experiment with is perfect, for the driving range, plus it may be great for bettering your focus and relieving stress, as you may already know.

The Driving Range As A Warm Up Space

There is more to the driving range than a spot to try to hit drives so far as you possibly can, although many golfers new to the game may be forgiven for considering otherwise, given the name.

Most experienced golfers are conscious of the fact that you’ll be able to benefit tremendously from a warm-up on the driving range, before hitting the primary course. Like any sport a great warm up is important, when it comes to getting the most out of your performance.

Discovering the precise warm up routine for you is the most important thing. As with many issues in golf, and life in general, you’ve got to seek out what works for you, as a preparation method.

Many golfers like to begin with smaller clubs and work up, beginning with a pitching wedge, for instance, before hitting larger and larger clubs. There are some golfers who prefer to do the exact opposite, getting their wood range dialed in first and working downwards.

A different possibility is that you could choose only the one club and stick with this while you warm up. If you are struggling to make shots with one club then this is a great place to practice. Get used to holding it on the driving range. Also you can get your mistakes out of the way where it doesn’t count. You might just find a method that works really well for you just by freeing yourself of the stress of making a shot out on the course.

Check out more on this at golf driving range.

The key is to see what works best for your game. The driving range is the place to try it out and help you get the most from it. Do not be afraid to try things out first on the range and you could be surprised at yourself when you unleash a new stroke that changes your game completely.

As one might suppose, buying the incorrect golf clubs equipment may be virtually as bad for any golfer as buying the incorrect car for the race driver.  Without the appropriate golf clubs and equipment, chances are you aren’t gonna play well despite how expert you might imagine yourself to be.  If you understand what you are doing in terms of playing golf, you have already got  a head start on most others.  However, getting to grips with most of the assorted aspects that may alter your whole game depending upon the golf clubs equipment is incredibly significant.  There are plenty of club alternatives available and picking the right set for your requirements will not mean you must spend thousands of dollars.  One could spend little and still get a collection of golf clubs apparatus that meets your requirements entirely.

Being a beginner, you are going to need to focus on buying irons.  They are the first sorts of golf clubs that you’re going to be using, and as a result where you need to concentrate the bulk of your efforts.  Should you be concerning yourself with copious kinds and styles of golf clubs available, you are more likely to become overwhelmed with information and therefore much more likely to reach a bad decision when you do buy your golf equipment.  When considering which type of irons to buy, the very first thing that you need to establish how they are manufactured.

For a beginner, it really is more desirable to seek out a set of golf clubs which are cast irons.  This will likely provide you with a much larger sweet spot on the head of the club, which will allow for a little bit more fault with your swing without hindering your development.

Once you have mastered your swings and seriously improved your proficiency then a collection of forged golf clubs are significantly better because they permit the ability to manipulate the path of the ball much better.  However, with a much smaller sweet spot on forged golf clubs you will find that they are extremely unsuitable for beginners.  Never buy forged golf clubs equipment with the idea that you may be requiring them in the following couple of weeks.  If you really think you will be moving to them that quickly you can perhaps trade the cast iron set you have invested in to recoup some of the money you’ve just spent on them.

The next concern is the dimensions of the club heads.  Typically, golf clubs equipment have a very small club head and therefore offers a noticeably smaller sweet spot and in turn demands a far higher ability level so that you can play well.  If you are a newbie or intermediate level player, you should look at using a medium head club.  While larger or oversized heads are available, selecting these is usually a bad idea because you will not be able to manage the club as well.  By and large, this will instigate several problems in terms of being able to essentially improve your game.

Choosing the right set of golf clubs and equipment is essential to be able to essentially ensure that you’re playing an excellent game.  A poor set of golf clubs, regardless of whether they are high quality will cost you numerous strokes on the green and make you rather frustrated. Choosing the right set of golf clubs and equipment doesn’t mean you’ll need to purchase custom made golf clubs, but you do need to develop your expertise level into consideration to make sure you buy golf clubs and equipment that can actually help you advance your game and play well.

USGA Revised Rules For Club Face Grooves

July 21, 2010 by admin

The USGA has revised the rules that define the groove volume on golf clubs that have a loft equal to or higher than 25 degrees. This generally speaking will be anything above a 5 iron. The rules mean that there is a limit on groove edge sharpness on the clubface and the shape of the grooves has therefore been redefined .

The new rules only really apply to all golf clubs manufactured after 1 January 2010. Clubs that were manufactured prior to that date that and met the previous regulations will be valid until at least 2024. Pre-2010 models can still be manufactured until the end of year 2010.

The new groove regulations mean that it is likely to be harder to hit a shot from the rough and get as much spin on it than was previously possible . They are implementing this change because they feel that golfers should be more highly rewarded for fairway accuracy than is currently the case. It will effectively penalise those that do not keep their ball in the fairway.

Commencing from January 1, 2010, all professionals and amateurs qualified to play in professional tournaments are affected by this ruling. The ruling will apply to lower level professionals and elite amateurs from 2014. It is likely that the ruling will be applied to all golfers with effect from 2024 but this will be reviewed in 2020.

If you are an everyday average amateur golfer then you don’t really need to worry about these rules as they stand now. You can still use your existing clubs but keep in mind the changes if you are looking to change your clubs in the next few years and make sure you get ones that conform to the new regulations so that you are not restricted as to how long you can use them.

Buying Used Clubs For Beginning Golfers

July 20, 2010 by admin

Golfers who are just starting should seriously consider buying used golf clubs to start, as they may find that they will not golf on a regular basis . Additionally , it’s not possible to know what type of clubs you need, when beginning . The wisest move is to start with used golf clubs.

The beginner needs only a limited set of clubs . A good starting set will include five iron clubs, including 4, 6, 8, pitching wedge and sand wedge, in addition to 3 and 5 woods plus a putter. The driver is very difficult to control and is not recommended to start. Most beginners will achieve better results by using a 3 wood on the tee . 1, 2 and 3 irons should not be included , as the long irons are very difficult to hit well. A 5 wood will provide distance almost equivalent to the 2 iron and ball will fly better on miss-hits . The wood is much more forgiving than an iron club.

The partial set is all a beginner needs for every situation and also makes club selection much easier. It’s a good set of clubs that helps the beginner to improve their swing. Then, when they are good enough, they can advance to a full set golf clubs.

Try to club heads made of stainless steel and avoid the lighter cheaper alloy metal heads. Select the cavity backed (hollowed out in the back) and over-sized golf club. You should use the larger club heads because they are more forgiving with an enlarged “sweet spot” that can produce maximum distance even with off-center hits.

Graphite shafts are ideal for beginner even though they are more expensive that steel shafts. The lighter weight allows the beginner to swing the club faster, producing maximum distance.

If you have purchased used golf clubs with worn or slippery grips, be sure to replace them. Grips are fairly easy and inexpensive to replace by yourself or a club repairman. Ensure all the grips are replaced with same size and design.

There are many golf stores online, that specialize in discount golf clubs and clone golf clubs, that sell used and returned clubs at low prices. They also sell the replacement components you might need to get your clubs in top condition.
