Stop Slicing And Get The Proper Golf Swing

June 17, 2009 by admin

Every golfer wants to execute that perfect and proper golf swing and execute it every time they play. It is the kind of swing that can be used either with an iron or a wood. With this proper golf swing, you should be able to tee off, suitably adapting to the weather and the course. It is the kind of swing that should be able to get you out of any difficult situation. It is the kind of swing that is simple yet versatile and dependable, the ideal proper golf swing.

But this is not going to happen if you are prone to slicing.

Getting that proper golf swing is not easy and it takes a lot of practice to get the mistakes out of a bad swing. But it is not as difficult as you think. It all depends on what you do during the swing.

Simplify

Keep your swing simple; this is one tip that will always work. Keeping a swing simple takes away the unnecessary movements that not only wastes energy but also make the swing bad. It is not necessary to bend your elbows during the swing. Neither is any extra step necessary. These unnecessary movements can skew your shot.

Rhythm

If you feel that trying to improve yourself will not work, then get yourself a coach to teach you the finer points of how to improve golf swing. The two essential aspects of a proper golf swing are position and balance. But lack of rhythm can spoil all your efforts. Make sure that you have a smooth rhythm to go with your swing and to fix whatever you are trying to fix. This can be in the form of humming a tune, singing a song or counting. But doing it will help you get the proper golf swing.

Position Of The Hand

Another feature that should never be forgotten is the position of the hand and the wrist. Wrong positioning of the hand or the wrist can cause a twisted club in your hand. This will result in the striking of the ball at an angle and not dead centre, making the ball to go in any direction except the one it should – straight ahead. Practice till you get it correct every time.

The best hand position is to interlock your hands with the little and ring fingers of your dominant hand connected to the index finger and middle finger of your complimentary hand (it is not called the weak hand). With a little practice, your problem should be solved. If you get this hand position correct, you can improve on accuracy and distance.

Straighten Your Spine

Keep your spine straight and let it act as the axis of your pivot. This is something that no golfer should underestimate when it comes the execution of the proper golf swing. Think of yourself as a pendulum, with the spine a your axis. This golf swing instruction, if faithfully followed, should improve your game a great deal.

Rotation Of The Hip

Now that you have got your spine acting as an axis and your hands interlocked and firmly gripping the club, you must concentrate on removing the rotation of the hip in your quest for the proper golf swing. Golf is not boxing where a lot of punch can come from the swinging of the hips. If you swing your hips in golf, you will get only your slice and your hook. Therefore keep your hip rotation to a minimum. But this is not the beginning and the end of golf.

Find out just how much hip rotation you can allow before it spoils your proper golf swing. Follow these tips, practice regularly and see if it does not improve your game by getting rid of the slice and by being more accurate and achieving a good long shot.

Your Weekly Online Golf Lesson To Improve Your Approach Shots

Your Weekly Free Online Golf Lesson That Will Improve Your Approach Shots

Your online golf lesson has to do with your approach shots. You know your game is getting better when you start placing more ball marks on the green.

To enhance your approach shots, follow the tips below :
Aim for the middle of the green, not the flag. Pin placements and greens are getting more difficult to stick all the time. Do not be a sucker and go for a pin that you may most likely miss, and will most likely leave you in a bunker or some other position and destroy your round.

These two online golf lesson tips can result in a serious improve in your approach shots, as well as your game in general.
And, as you are probably aware, it’s not a simple task to master the approach shot, but there are some ways you can significantly improve the accuracy of your shot. Most golfers don’t practice their alignment too much on the practice range, but they really need to.

Think about this. Typically , when you’re off the green it is usually due to alignment, not distance. Chances are, you have your 160 yard club, 150, 140, 130, for example. And if you hit a poor shot, the ball may go a little further or a little shorter. But even if that occurs, most greens are deep enough so that you will still be on the putting surface if you have selected the club that would leave you in the center of the green.

But, alignment is another story. If you pull the ball, and your alignment is off, it’s off by far more than 5-10 yards! And if you push the ball, you generally are pushing it for the complete round, correct? Bunkers, water, and uneven lies are the obstacles you are facing.

So how are you supposed to compete? The answer is simple. Practice your alignment. And then when you get done practicing, practice some more. O.K , that about does it for todays online golf lesson.

Golf- Learning And Perfecting The Basics

June 14, 2009 by admin

Golf is the one game that bridges perfectly the gap between the corporate world and the sports world. Loved by both the business and sports community alike, this great game has really become quite popular. If you desire for whatever reason , business or sports, to learn how to play golf , you must first learn the basics and perfect them.

Learning the basics is very important in golf. It’s like building, if you don’t get the foundation right, it doesn’t matter how beautiful or high the building is, it will eventually come down. Getting the basics right and perfecting it, in my opinion is what makes great golfers like Tiger Woods who they are. Tiger started playing golf at a very young age, he learnt and perfected the basics and today he is reaping the benefits.

Learning and perfecting the basics helps you to really know the game and be a great player. The secret of success in life in any endeavor lies in the simple and basic things.  Success in Business, for example, is all about providing what people need when they need it. It’s that simple, yet not many people get that simple principle right but those who get it right are the most successful. That’s why the world’s richest main are not those with complicated degrees but those with simple business plans. In Golf also, success is in  the basics. Basic things like, the swing, the clubs and the course.

The Swing
There is nothing so basic and yet so important in golf as the swing. The swing is what differentiates great players from ordinary players. Every player’s most important thing in golf is learning his swing. Golf is simply about swinging a club, hitting a ball towards and eventually into a hole. The swing is what makes the winner. Everybody has access to the same kind of clubs, they are sold everywhere, the same kind of course but not the same swing. You must learn how perfectly to control the ball with your swing. Swings are perfected with practice. The control of the ball is in the swing. So there is a need for you to really work on your swing and perfect it. Of course the basics of how to hold the club , how to stand and how to drive the ball can be generally taught but the perfect swing that yields the perfect drive you will have to cultivate yourself.

The Clubs
One of the very important golf basics is the golf clubs. You must know your clubs well. Know which to use at what distance in which condition and for what purpose. This knowledge separates the top players from the usual players.

The Course
Though there are special regulations guiding the construction of  a course, professional golf players will tell you that courses differ one from another. Knowing and mastering the course is important. It’s what lets you know how to hit your ball, where to hit it and where to avoid. Great players take time to examine each course before playing in any tournament. Knowing the course well may be what differentiates the winner from the others eventually.

Success is in the basics, learn and perfect the basics and your success in golf is guaranteed.

SUMMARY
Being in a great golfer is in the basics. Learning and perfecting the basics helps you become a successful golfer. Such basics include mastering your swing, knowing your clubs and the golf course.

Improve Golf Swing And Pep Up Your Golf

June 13, 2009 by admin

Whatever the reason is for you to improve golf swing, be it balance, body posture or power, there is a way to help you improve it and put you on the course to playing successful golf. If you are a novice to the game, don’t bother about what other players might think or say about your game; concentrate on improving your game because that is all that matters.

Some Common Mistakes

One of the most common mistakes the beginners commit when striking a ball is to send it as far away as possible. Although it may look good to them to see the ball flying away, they are missing out on more essential aspects of the game, i.e., accuracy and consistency.

It is easy for a novice to be over enthusiastic. Often they get a wrong idea as to where the power should come from. Golf is one of the sports that gives your whole body a work out. You have to use every major muscle group in your arms, torso and legs to get the proper golf swing, with power and consistency.

Practice Is The Key

There are many ways to improve your golfing skills. You first have to find out the area in which you are lacking and making mistakes, especially with your swing. Get advice from your friends and other acquaintances who have more experience. You can resort to golf lessons from a professional golfer, watch instructional videos and use training aids. Golf magazines will give you tips by professional golfers and writers. Nevertheless, it is constant practice that will finally help you the most. Otherwise you will remain a mediocre golfer.

Even professional golfers practice constantly to continuously improve golf swing. Though the saying “practice makes perfect” is perfectly true, it does not mean that you should stop practicing the moment you attain a degree of perfection. The more you practice the more you gain confidence and confidence has a telling effect on not only golf, but in all activities.

Sufficient Practice

The more golf workouts you do, the more the change in your game will be for the better. Your muscles get conditioned and stronger, giving you more power and the confidence to get the proper golf swing for a more accurate shot. A disciplined practice schedule can have you striking the ball dead centre. Your muscle memory will improve and it will aid you in remembering the correct sequence of your swing, the posture to be taken and the power to be applied.

Putting and chipping do not require much muscle play. You can practice it even in your living room or on your lawn. But golf is not just putting and chipping. The swing and the drive is there at the start of the game for which you will either have to go to a driving range or an indoor training facility for practicing the long range shots.

Each time you play golf, the muscles of your upper body, your arms, your lower back and your legs are brought into play. As such, it is better that you do some warm-ups before practicing or heading out for a tournament. Stretching exercises are the best warm ups.

With a will for constant practice and a positive attitude you can, undoubtedly, become a successful golfer.

Woods Silences Criticism with Memorial Tournament Win

June 12, 2009 by admin

Tiger is back. The golf celebrity was able to clear up any remaining doubts about his game at the Muirfield Village Golf Club, where he clinched the final round of the Memorial Tournament on Sunday.

Woods shot 12-under par-276 at the tournament, finishing the final round 4 strokes ahead of his closest opponents. He was able to finish with two final birdies that broke him out of a four-way tie and gave him a one-stroke victory over Jim Furyk, who shot at 69. Woods finished with 65 and gained his second title of the year.

Woods managed a strong performance for the entire week. On the fairway, he displayed a driving performance reminiscent of the 1998 Masters. He hit 49 of 56 fairways, and hit every fairway in a single round. Nor did Woods let up in the final round of the tournament. He began the last round behind Mark Wilson and Matt Bettencourt, who were tied for the lead. As the day progressed, Wilson and Bettencourt slipped to 10-under, behind Jonathon Byrd, who grabbed the lead when he made eagle at the seventh hole.

Woods approached the seventh with a shot that left his ball on the rough, some 44 feet from the hole. He seemed likely to par and Byrd seemed likely to maintain his lead.

But neither was to be.

Woods wedged the ball, popping it into the air and bringing it to the green, where it rolled gently into the middle of the hole. The crowd exploded; the eagle brought Woods up to second, just behind Byrd.

Byrd tried to maintain his lead at the 12th with a birdie, but when he faltered at the 13th and 14th with a three-putt and double bogey, respectively, Woods gained ground. Woods birdied again at the 15th and seemed to clinch the title, but his sure victory was upset by a bogey on the par-3 16th.

Then came his resurgence. At the 17th, Woods shot to within 9 feet and managed a birdie; at the 18th, he birdied again, hitting a 7-iron to within a foot of the hole.

Overall, Woods finished with 7 birdies, 1 eagle, and 2 bogeys. His phenomenal win, giving him 67 PGA Tour victories, silenced the criticism that had plagued him since his return from knee surgery last year.

“I knew I could do this,” Woods said. “It was just a matter of staying with it and giving it time to come around. I just hadn’t been as consistent as I wanted to be. Now, here we are.”

“It was just a matter of time.”

Apparently, Woods was beleaguered not by a loss of skill, but by a lack of practice. It wasn’t until the Master’s that he was able to hit balls after a round; then at the Quail Hollow Championship, he was able to do so after just two of the rounds. What he needed, he explained, was more practice time at home; once gained, he was able to return to vintage Tiger.

“I wish you’d all quit pissing him off,” Furyk said jokingly of Woods, referring to the criticisms that had surrounded the star player this year. “Wish you’d quit chapping him so much and make him come back and keep proving stuff. Tiger Woods is always Tiger Woods. He can’t be 100 percent every week, but I’m sure he answered a lot of questions today.”

Answer questions he did. Now the only one left on our minds is how long it will take Woods to beat Nicklaus’ record: 18 major championship victories.

Improve Golf Swing With An Empty Box

June 11, 2009 by admin

Do you still have the cardboard box packing where your golf clubs came in? Good. You do not have to go to a sports store to get any of the golf training aids that they have and that many golfers use to improve golf swing.

First warm up. Hit some fifteen balls with the number 5 or 7 wood or iron. Then you can use your cardboard box for practice in a driving range.

Once warmed up you can set up your training aid by placing the cardboard box towards the target, lengthwise, about 5” or 6” away from the ball. The intention is to strike the ball without hitting the box. In case you do not know how to set it up, get help from someone in the range.

Begin by taking a few practice swings. Swing the club so that it brushes the ground softly. Don’t hit the box. After a few swings, place a ball in front of the box and hit it without hitting the box. In case you do hit the box, reset it to its initial position and try again. Keep your swings slow at first and gradually increase the speed.

When you get to the stage when you can consecutively hit a couple or more balls without hitting the box, decrease the distance by a half-inch. Continue practising, gradually decreasing the distance till the box is only and inch or two away from the ball. Now increase the speed of your swing to the speed that you usually play with.

If you can do it then it means that your swing is within the correct zone. If not, then your swing is on the outside, either before or after the impact and can happen because of two reasons; either you are improperly holding the club or your aim with the clubface is not proper. Whatever the reason, it is best that you consult a professional coach who can watch your swing and correct it.

Once you can unerringly hit the ball without hitting the box, then this training is aid is no longer necessary to improve golf swing. You can practice without it. If you begin to hit outside again, replace the box and try to recollect how you swung the club while practicing.

Other than this simple box, there are also other training aids to help improve golf swing and they come at a cost of some $10.00 to get and use.

The best thing about this kind of training aid is that you do not have to worry if the box gets damaged and get riddled with holes. You can still get another with similar specifications and continue practising. An alternative to the cardboard box would be a soft, long and round foam that is used as a pool toy.

Hand positioning is vital to keep your swing from going to the outside. So is speed. Remember that it is not the inside out or the opposite swing that is the correct swing path. Neither is it going down the straight path. It is an inside to inside movement and you will have to practice till you get the hang of it. But once you get it, then you will have the satisfaction of seeing the ball soar into the air and land close to the hole that you are playing. Use simple training aids and improve golf swing.

Whether you are just starting out or just wanting to take your game of golf to the next level, the author Ian Bell says that improving on your game of golf need not be difficult or frustrating. www.PropertySunriver.com What Should You Know About Tetherow?

Tetherow is an example of Bend’s latest luxury golf communities. One component that makes it a deserving contender as one of the prime real estate areas of Bend is its Westside location and Vicinity to Mt Bachelor. It is adjacent to Deschutes Countrywide Forest and has a total of seven hundred Acres.

Besides its location, lots of Tetherow’s homesites provide you with superb, Cascade Mountain perspectives and locations along David McLay Kidd’s acclaimed 18-Hole Golf Course. Mr. Kidd has built quite a name for himself as the designer of Bandon Dunes, which is considered by many to be one of the planet’s best courses. Andrews.

Tetherow has finished construction on its seventeen thousand square foot clubhouse whose amenities include a restaurant , bar, meeting rooms, non-public members’ locker rooms, lounge area, pro shop, offices and storage facilities. The 18-hole Signature Course has been finished as well as, a 9-hole Executive Practice Course. As Tetherow moves towards completion, further planned amenities are predicted to include a Hotel/Lodge, Athletic Facility, as well as a Spa & Wellness Center.

What Possession Opportunities exist in Tetherow?

Tetherow is providing a nice cross section of property possibilities for stockholders and householders starting with their 379 custom Homesites. Second , there are the offering of Lodge Homes which are pre-planned 3 and 4 bedroom units. The Lodge Homes will allow a home-owner to place their unit into the rental overnight lodging program. Finally a sequence of Townhomes are scheduled for those that wish to have a maintenance free lifestyle or perhaps are looking for part time residence in Central Oregon.

Each neighborhood has their own house owner dues. These dues are billed semi-annually. These dues don’t include Golf Membership or amenity Privileges. In addition to the HOA dues, all property owners must obtain a Social/Athletic Membership. This entitles owners to have full use of the Clubhouse and Recreational Facilities throughout Tetherow, excluding Golf. A Social/Athletic membership’s dues are $125.00 a month till the athletic facility is complete, whereupon the monthly dues will be $175.00.

Moving Forward

Tetherow is moving in the right direction towards changing into a premiere address in Central Oregon. At this time, Tetherow is considering the possibility of bringing in a luxury hotel chain to control operation of the upcoming Lodge/Hotel. I feel this is a sensible choice given the fact that Bend and the bigger Central Oregon does not have an internationally recognized luxury hotel chain anywhere.

Additionally Tetherow would get advantages from the further exposure of national/international announcement done by the hotel chain to market itself.

Because there are a number of projects that have not started construction, this inevitably raises worries over whether certain facilities will be made or what the completed product may develop into as time goes on. For those who are buying for the Golf experience, this main feature of the project is pretty much completed. I am going to go out on a limb by saying that they will often all be built, it is just a matter of when. It might be good to think about too, that as these other amenities become available and the property market shifts to a more acceptable atmosphere, costs will start climbing too.

Improve Your Rusty Golf Swing

June 10, 2009 by admin

The style of the golf swing is that particular aspect of the game that differentiates one player from another. This is mainly due to the different type of body, arm length and strength and shoulder width that each player has. The basics of the game are the same for all the players except for the swing. For some, hitting the ball hard enough to make it travel over a distance of some 300 yards is child’s play, for others, a 100 yard shot seems tougher than old boots.

Golf is a game of skill, with a pinch of luck and a little of chance thrown in. All three should be working together to get a perfect game. It is a sport where either one wins or looses based purely on ones own skill. A sport where everyone starts with the same set of skills. Every golf swing highlights the individuals personal style of play; a marked difference from most other sports.

Even though the swing identifies the playing style of an individual golfer, there are ways to improve golf swing to be good enough for a professional tournament. The most important rule to remember is the position of the neck and the head; they should be in the same line as your spine.  Most golf coaches will emphasise this point and it is one rule that if followed to the letter, will show immediate results.

The next important thing to keep in mind is the see that your arm fits under your chin when you make the swing so as to keep the alignment true and straight. One common mistake that most beginners make is to tuck their heads into their shoulders to prevent the neck form moving. This hampers the motion of your swing. The arm being forced to go around the chin and affecting the flight of the ball.

To get the maximum benefit of this exercise practice it 25 times in a row, rest for a while and repeat the process. Be consistent in maintaining your body position and the alignment of your neck and your head with the spine. Try to be relaxed and comfortable. Train your body to fall into this position every time you get on a course, by practicing at least for an hour or two. It should be like a conditioned reflex action.

As stated briefly before, relaxation is important for you to get the proper golf swing. Tensing your muscles make you lose your dexterity and you become inflexible. A relaxed swing is the proper golf swing. When your body is tense, there is no free flow of movement from the beginning of backswing your swing to its culmination when it strikes the ball.

Then there is balance. Without proper balance, the force with which you strike the ball is affected, decreasing it and resulting in a lesser travel distance of the ball. Proper balance gives you maximum power and striking force.

These tips should, if properly followed, improve golf swing and your overall game performance. But most of all, practice is the key to a good game of golf.

Whether you are just starting out or just wanting to take your game to the next level, the author Ian Bell says that improving on your game of golf need not be difficult or frustrating.
